Andy Baker - Trainer in Teaching Principles

''A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.'' - Henry B Adams

My name is Andy Baker. I have been a teacher and trainer since 2006. Much of my teaching career has been focused on teaching English as a language, but I have also taught a number of other subjects at the university level including Business Strategies and Intercultural Communications.

Throughout my career, I have worked with teachers at all levels with varying degrees of experience. I have enjoyed speaking with these colleagues about best practices and new trends in education, training and development. Education continues to evolve, certainly now with the new opportunities we are afforded with the advent of new technologies.

I have been approached by content experts who have been asked to lead a training on the topic of their expertise.

Very often people will understand a topic very well but not understand how to relate that information to others in a meaningful way. It is just a matter of creating the right atmosphere, focusing on what it is that you would like the students to walk away knowing, and simple classroom management techniques.

Prior to my career in education and training, I was a therapist in Brooklyn, New York. This gave me the opportunity to master the art of leading a group and to learn a great deal about group dynamics, which is one thing that has remained a constant in our ever changing world.

In 2018, I wrote a book entitled ''The Inspired Student: How to Motivate Students to Excel in Today’s Learning Environment.''

It outlines techniques on how to create a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning, how to manage the students in terms of questions and activities, and offers points that we as leaders in the classroom should consider in terms of how we can come across to our students the way we want.

The great news is that anyone can lead a successful training.

In this course, I explain some aspects of training and education that you may not have considered, such as preparation, creating an outline for your training, activities to keep your students active and thinking, and giving feedback.
