Why data? Why now?
As the modern world turns away from ‘physical’ assets, think of Uber, Alibaba, Airbnb (yes -still), Facebook, we are turning towards digital assets and data as the assets we have. Leading companies are moving beyond data driven, to data powered – think of Tesla. While we may understand that data is the new oil, it doesn’t mean we know exactly what to do with it. Data is large and growing, messy and has been expensive to manage. As technology continues to evolve and business run as ‘data’ powerhouses (or coined as digiterati – think Google, Amazon etc), we all need to reach a new level of understanding and execution with information. The specialty of transforming data to a new level of achievement is called “Infonomics”.
I am a data enthusiast who understands its transformational power. Yet data is of little value without interpretation and direction. Helping executives and organizations understand and drive the curation, usage and monetization of knowledge is my focus. In various roles, across multinational technology companies, to tech scale-ups to start-ups, I have been executed as everything from statistics leader and coach, data modeler, business consultant, strategy expert, data product owner to chief data officer. The results have led to double company valuations within 18 months and creating new business lines using existing ‘dark’ data sources.
As a person, I am driven by EQ and interpersonal interactions, focused on perceiving and leading by goals and solution. She acts as chief data officer to deliver differentiated usage and value of information. I have lived and worked in 3 continents which helps cross the barriers of culture and language – though they always come into play. Throughout my career, I have worked across the globe to solve data challenges and create opportunity to better understand customer, to bring in new revenue streams and better understand business causes and opportunities. A regular professional speaker, I am a graduate of the University of Michigan and La Sorbonne with an MBA from the American University.
